Missouri requires photo ID at the polls and registration 4 weeks before Election Day. The state now offers two weeks of no-excuse in-person absentee voting before Election Day.

Registration deadline
4th Wednesday before Election Day (approximately 27 days).
Early voting
Two weeks of no-excuse in-person absentee voting at your local election office (Tuesday before Election Day is the last day).
Absentee / mail-in
Mail-in request must be received by 5:00 PM the second Wednesday before Election Day. Ballot must be received by 7:00 PM Election Day.
ID requirements
Photo ID required (Missouri DL/ID, US passport, military ID). Without one, cast a provisional ballot.
Election Day hours
Polls open 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Central Time. If you are in line at 7:00 PM, you can vote.

Extra info:

  • Missouri now offers two weeks of no-excuse in-person absentee (early) voting.
  • Mail-in absentee voting requires a qualifying excuse (different from in-person no-excuse).
  • If you don't have a photo ID, you can get a free non-driver state ID for voting purposes.
