New Hampshire allows Election Day registration at the polls with proof of identity, age, citizenship, and residency. The state does not have traditional early voting; absentee voting requires an excuse.

Registration deadline
6-13 days before Election Day (set by each town/city). Same-day registration available at the polls on Election Day.
Early voting
No traditional early voting. Absentee voting (with a qualifying excuse) is available before Election Day.
Absentee / mail-in
Absentee ballot must be received by 5:00 PM Election Day (or by close of polls if delivered to the polling place).
ID requirements
Photo ID required. Without one, sign a Qualified Voter Affidavit. New 2025 law restricts proof of citizenship requirements at registration.
Election Day hours
Polls open by 11:00 AM at the latest and close at 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM, depending on your town/city.
