South Carolina offers two weeks of in-person early voting and requires photo ID at the polls. Registration closes 30 days before Election Day.

Early voting
Two weeks of in-person early voting beginning the second Monday before Election Day through the Saturday before.
Absentee / mail-in
Application must be received by 11 days before Election Day. Ballot must be received by 7:00 PM Election Day.
ID requirements
Photo ID required (SC DL/ID, US passport, military ID, federal ID with photo, or SC voter registration card with photo).
Election Day hours
Polls open 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Eastern Time. If you are in line at 7:00 PM, you can vote.

Extra info:

  • Photo ID is required to vote in person. Free SC voter registration cards with photos are available.
  • Without photo ID, you can cast a provisional ballot and sign an affidavit.
  • In-person early voting and Election Day voting are no-excuse.
