Registration deadline
20 days before Election Day (online/mail). In-person registration at the clerk's office through the Friday before Election Day, plus same-day registration at the polls on Election Day.
Early voting
In-person absentee voting (early voting) at the municipal clerk's office, typically beginning 2 weeks before Election Day through the Sunday before.
Absentee / mail-in
Mail-in request must be received by 5:00 PM the Thursday before Election Day. Ballot must be received by 8:00 PM Election Day.
ID requirements
Photo ID required (WI DL/ID, US passport, military ID, tribal ID, student ID with limits, or free state voter ID).
Election Day hours
Polls open 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Time. If you are in line at 8:00 PM, you can vote.

  • Wisconsin allows same-day registration at every polling place — bring photo ID and proof of residence.
